Our goal is to provide a setting for both individual achievement and developing a sense of community among writers and teachers.   Unless otherwise noted for particular programs, we accept writers of college age and beyond.  Writers of all levels are welcome.   Our workshops focus on individual writing time and shared conversation; they are not primarily instructional.  So participants should have a clear sense of what they’d like to work on and accomplish at the retreat.  The writer in residence and the other participants will help you meet those goals.   There will be plenty of time for individual work each day.  But we are also interested in writers who want to share their work and insights with others in an environment that is collaborative, supportive and respectful.  Shared meals, evening readings and optional outdoor activities will provide these community building opportunities.

Participants will be asked to agree to principles that will support this kind of community and to acknowledge their responsibility for personal health and safety and for respecting our facilities and the wider environment.

All facilities are non-smoking; participants may smoke in appropriate outdoor areas.
